Development of online courses procedure in MARE Project from P5

In order to ensure the effective implementation of the MARE project, the project leader discussed and worked with the project members on the implementation plan for online lecture development. Specifically, the steps and implementation time are as follows:

Step 1: Prepare the facilities & infrastructure
In order to well prepare for the construction of online courses, PIs has reviewed the facilities and infrastructure and proposes to purchase necessary equipments to serve the project when implemented.

Step 2: Coordinate with VN partners in implementation
The goal of all PIs is to build online courses that can be shared and used in the teaching and learning process. Partners will gather together to find subjects that teachers and students can join and share.

As a result, P5, P6 & P9 have some joined courses in term of  lecturers and students

Step 3: Implement training
In order to help lecturers and technicians to compile online courses more productive, training sessions on the development of online course content  are introduced, including course’s materials.
At the seminar in Can Tho, we have introduced the process of building an online teaching module to all staff members => Staff members know how to conducting an online lecture.
At the same time, we also have online meetings for administrators, stakeholders and other to exchange idea and thought for building an online course as well as writting a report.

Step 4: Software Installation
Depending on the technician’s preference in each member university, software / hardware used for recording online lecture will be installed / used.

In this stage, each partners need to clarify the delivery methods for each lesson.

“ We don’t need the best & most expensive equipment and software to create an online course. Most of the successful online course creators
using pretty basic and inexpensive setups”.

Step 5: Recording the Online Course
In this stage, lecturers and technicians will work together to convert the content of course from paper/document to video.

Step 6: Perform verification flatform for online courses
These systems offer eLearning platforms a way of organizing, storing, verifying, and budgeting for the entire university.
This platform provides a neat framework that simplifies these processes so that we don’t have to start from scratch and can devote more attention to the actual content of the courses, rather than the technical stuff.
– There are lots of different kinds of online course platforms on the market, and each of them offers something a little different.
– The thing, we need, is to find the right platform for our needs.
The platform allows to perform such upload without loss of information or complementary work.

  • The platform can be accessible from mobile devices and tablets
  • A multi-language is needed for online training platform or not?

Step 7: Run a pilot class
This pilot class gives the trainers an opportubity to work out any technical kinks
– To allow trainers to receive student feedback and identify issues with the curriculum.
– To give instructors the chance to check for inaccurate visuals or trim down lectures that are way too long.

Step 8: Product submition for accreditation

Online teaching to replace traditional learning methods in Vietnam has not been accepted for many reasons:
(1) due to the lack of facilities in the university.
(2) students are unfamiliar with this new teaching method.
(3) the lecturer has not been trained in designing online courses.
– Although the Covid -19 pandemic has profoundly affected the teaching and learning process of all universities across the country.
– Many online teaching and learning solutions have been applied. However, the Ministry of Education and Training – MONRE has not yet recognized that
the quality of online teaching can replace traditional method.
=> It takes a lot of time and effort for accreditation of these online courses from University and the Ministry of Education and Training in Vietnam.
